Educating Youth About the Importance of
“Small Town Values for Life…” |

The Kuyahoora Valley Youth Clinics in
conjunction with the Coffin Family and Friends Golf Outing are held on
the Thursday before the main event. Since 1998, we have conducted
various athletic clinics for children 4 to 15 years of age including:
golf, tennis, baseball, basketball, and soccer. Other events have
included field day activities on the same year as the summer Olympics.
These events included tug-o-war; relay races, track and field events,
Frisbee throws, softball throws, and large groups games like capture the
flag. In 2002, and in remembrance of the tragic events of September 11,
2001, we honored our local firefighters, police officers, and service
men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for the
betterment of their communities. |

Our goals are simple and relate to our
theme, “Small Town Values for Life”. We want to educate children
of the greater Kuyahoora Valley and beyond to have fun, demonstrate
sportsmanship, and learn the importance of giving back to their local
community. |
| |
| We accomplish
these goals through games, drills, and friendly competition. Our clinics
are free; however, we encourage kids to bring in non-perishable food
items to donate to the Herkimer County Food Bank. This helps children
learn at a young age to give back to people within the local community. |
